Ponder Learning

A platform designed to connect learners with tutors, while giving tutors a place to teach and sell their notes.

An early Ponder Learning platform concept
Ponder Learning · Platform concept

Ponder began with a problem: academic help was expensive, fragmented and difficult to find. The idea was to put tutoring, lesson booking and study notes in one online place.

01The idea

Learning as a collaborative system.

Learners could search for tutors, book online sessions and buy study notes. Tutors could create profiles, set their availability, teach online and earn from notes they had already made.

02The build

More than a landing page.

The original brief called for learner, tutor and administrator dashboards, lesson bookings, payments, ratings, subject filtering and a system for managing universities, degrees and modules.

03What remained

An early lesson in product complexity.

Ponder taught me that a good idea is only the beginning. Marketplaces are difficult: the product, payments, trust, supply and demand all have to work at the same time.
